kampania: save the lynx

Please support the release of the endangered Arabian Caracal (lynx) from the pet shop "Joon" in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to the Riyadh zoo for preservation and possible breeding ( the zoo have happily agreed to take him).
The lynx, which is a medium sized-male desert cat is living in filthy conditions, doesnt have constant food or water, and has been only fed rice for over 4 years. If doesnt have fresh air or room to walk and excersize. Importantly, it is against the law: as an endangered animal of Arabian origin, given that Saudi Arabia has signed the CITES agreement, which prohibits the trade of endangered animals. The lynx should be preserved, thus we need to raise awareness so the Saudi Wildlife Commission intervenes. Please sign this petition and share it with everyone you know so we can preserve this beautiful animal as a symbol of Arabian pride and respect for its indigenous animals.

The pet shop owner has voluntarily handed over the Lynx to Riyadh Zoo

To everyone who supported the 'Free the Lynx at Joon Pet Shop' Campaign:

We have fantastic news: the pet shop owner has voluntarily handed over the Lynx to Riyadh Zoo!!

Through our campaign and the use of online forums, the petition, Facebook and email we, in a matter of a few weeks, got people all over Saudi Arabia (and the world, if you look at the 888 petition signatures) thinking and talking about animal welfare and the plight of the Lynx.

The lynx is currently under quarantine at the zoo but we are advised that he is eating well and settling in. He has been treated for parasites and, once he has completely recovered, he will be transferred to a better facility within the zoo. Of course we will be keeping a close eye on his progress, so those of you who are interested in updates should check the Facebook group: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=165592253458342

Sadly there are still many animals in Riyadh who need our help. Please visit the group for details of forthcoming new campaigns! Together we have shown that we CAN make a difference, one animal at a time.

Thanks again to everyone who showed their support,

Helen Sayde

Dziękuję i ja!
